VISIT TO ANITKABİR
 On November 6, 2021, in commemoration of the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkish Union Board of Directors, the members of the Soroptimist Clubs and the scholars of our club were in a moment of silence in the presence of our Ata in Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mausoleum). Turkish Union Treasurer Gül Gürses and club President Zeynep Edes together with six of our scholars fulfilled this honorable duty on behalf of Göztepe Soroptimist Club.  On the same day, they attended the opening ceremony of Atatürk’s portrait at the Başkent Community Education Center. Seventeen thousand small mosaic stones are used in design of the portrait to draw attention to the revolutions and achievements starting with the establishment of the Turkish Republic.

ORANGE the WORLD ACTIVITIES

The members of the five Soroptimist clubs in İzmir joined the parade starting from Alsancak Port to Cumhuriyet Square on Saturday, November 27, 2021 as a response to the call of “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” which started on November 25, the Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and lasted till December 10, the Human Rights Day. Our struggle against “violence against women” was demonstrated with orange balloons, clothes, banners and gloves and made recognizable by boarding the Nostalgia Tram passing along the shore. Messages on the subject were announced on the digital board in Gündoğdu Square.

From our club, Turkish Union Treasurer Gül Gürses, Club President Zeynep Edes, Club Past President Buket Karadeveci, candidates İnci Menemencioğlu, Melisa Yüncü, Ayşegül Kışlal and our scholar Zeynep Kıymaz attended the event.

At the Friendship Meeting held on December 1, 2021, Atty. Saadet Kayaalp introduced “Women’s Human Rights Training Programme” and enlightened us on violence against women.

Turkish Union Past President Atty. İlke Erol and Alsancak Soroptimist Club President Atty. Sabiha Polat informed the mothers of the Buca Gediz House about women’s rights at the joint event of December 10, Human Rights Day.

ART IN BULDAN

“Art is in Buldan” International Women Artists Festival which was realized with the partnership of two sister clubs Karşıyaka and Denizli Soroptimist Clubs and with the support of Turkish Union took place in Buldan/Denizli between September 30 and October 2, 2022.

Club members Buket Karadeveci and Muhayyel İzmiroğlu participated the folklore dancing performance from Göztepe. Club member Ayşe Baykan made a presentation on “The production stories of ecological agricultural products.” As well as Ayşe Baykan, Buket Karadeveci and Muhayyel İzmiroğlu as contributors to the program, President Zeynep Edes and members Ayşegül Kışlal, Seval Yarkan and Nükhet İzmiroğlu attended the opening ceremony and the first day activities. Turkish Union Treasurer and club member Gül Gürses was present during the entire festival programme for support.

VISIT TO ANITKABİR
In November 12, 2022, in commemoration of the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkish Union Board of Directors, the members of the Soroptimist Clubs and the scholars of our club were in a moment of silence in the presence of our Ata in Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mausoleum). Turkish Union Treasurer Gül Gürses, Club President Zeynep Edes and Şerife Eren together with three of our scholars fulfilled this honorable duty on behalf of Göztepe Soroptimist Club.  On the same day, they attended the opening ceremony of Atatürk TEM in it’s new venue.  The ceremony at the Mausoleum and the visit of it’s museum was held at 14.00. Visits to Rahmi Koç Museum in Ankara Castle, İşbankası Museum in Ulus and 2.Great National Assembly  were the last activities of the day.
