LIFE ACADEMY FOR WOMEN & GIRLS – FELT OBJECTS

The project aims at enabling women to acquire a skilled handcraft that would provide them with the opportunity to earn an income. Club members Yıldız Belger, Bergün Kardeş and Figen Özdem volunteered to conduct training courses for producing objects from felt, programmed as weekly three hours work for four weeks. The relevant materials required for the purpose are provided through donation of İNCİ VAK Foundation. Municipality of Gaziemir appointed a venue for the courses and provided a group of volunteers to join. 15 women attained the courses that initiated on November 3, 2016.

THROUGH PSYCHIATRY PATIENTS’ EYES / PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION (Within  the scope of “Through My Lens” project)

This project aims at enabling female psychiatric patients to express themselves through photography to help them to lead a compatible life in society. The project is initiated in February 3, 2015 as an ongoing activity of “Through My Lens” project in cooperation with the Aegean University, Faculty of Medicine Department of Psychiatry.

Göztepe Soroptimist Club provided cameras and the relevant materials required for the purpose. The photographs taken by the patients were eliminated by a jury of faculty members. The selected photographs were printed in large sizes by the club members. In May 27, 2015 the works were exhibited in a gallery with an openning ceremony organized by the Club. The artists who joined the cocktail event performed a mini concert as a suprise. Between 100 to 500 patients were attained.
